Wood + Honey
It's more than just candles and beeswax products - its about doing our part to support the bees and the planet as a whole.
We have all heard by now that bee populations are dwindling and this has a real huge impact on our ecosystem, agriculture and world as whole. Some bees have even been placed on the endangered species list. By purchasing bee-made products you are actually supporting the bees with your dollars.
Where our beeswax comes from...
While I have my own bees, I don't have nearly enough to support the amount of beeswax needed for all the candles and body products Wood + Honey produces. I have done a ridiculous amount of homework and spent more hours than I can count on buying and testing beeswax from around the country. Only recently have I finally settled on an apiary (bee farm) down in Florida, that I am happy to say loves there bees, practices beekeeping in a sustainable manor and therefore provides a consistent beeswax that is above and beyond any beeswax I've ever used - It smells like absolute heaven. Family owned and operated for over 100 years there practice to "doing it right" is above any other I've come across, and there are tons!!!! Feel free to check them out and learn more about the source from where your Wood + Honey candle or body product comes from. Visit them at either www.basichoney.com.
Did you know?
Beeswax Candles are the healthiest choice in candles. Many candles on the market today, and yes, even some soy, are blended with other bi-products that are harmful to you and the environment. You wouldn't believe how many chemicals are found in the typical store bought candle. Made from the caps of bee honeycombs, beeswax candles burn clean, have a very long burn time in comparison with other waxes and actually help to purify the air by releasing negative ions. These negative ions can bind with toxins and help remove them from the air. Therefore, beeswax candles actually help to neutralize airborne allergens and purify the air. Beeswax candles are an excellent choice for burning in your home or office for this reason.
Why Beeswax?
Well for the above mentioned reasons for sure, but its important to mention the benefits of supporting the bees which we all depend on to support our ecosystem, pollinate our crops, trees and overall plant life all which trickles down to our food system and clean air to breathe.
Plus, the burn time of beeswax candles is also much more efficient in that you get what you pay for. Beeswax is the hardest wax there is, therefore the burn of a beeswax candle lasts very long in comparison to a paraffin and even some soy candles.

When it comes time to dispose of the peanuts that came with your order, there are a few environmentally responsible options:
- RE-USE - you know how we feel about re-using. Some UPS Stores will accept all types of packing peanuts for re-use as well.
- COMPOST - yep, these little guys are compostable and dissolve in water pretty quickly. So cool.
