What does that do? Better yet, what is it? - If you have questions on the ingredients found in our Wood + Honey - Honey, BEE Well products, than you have come to the right place.
I am a label reader! I always want to know what I am putting in or on my body and more importantlywhy. Reading a label may tell you what's in a product but you have to then research that ingredient on your own to find out exactly what it does and what it's purpose is.
I have taken care of that step for you. Below is a list of every ingredient I use in my products with a brief description on what it's purpose/benefits are AND which products you can find them in. The ingredients are listed under one of three different categories: herbs & flowers, carrier oils, butters & others, and finally essential oils. Its a lot of information, but better to know it all than not right?
Honey, BEE Well products are made with the cleanest ingredients, of course cruelty free, and with careful attention to detail. They are products I am proud to use on myself and with my own family and feel a great sense of honor to be able to share them with you as well.

At Wood + Honey I am keepin' it real, ALWAYS. Which is why I use ONLY organic, non-GMO and/or sustainably sourced ingredients in the "Honey, BEE well" products.It’s important to me to be able to pronounce the names of all the ingredients that go into these products as well.I use NO artificial preservatives either, which is why some of these products have a shorter shelf life. If Mother Nature didn't make it, I'm not using it.This is what’s important to me and it's all I will ever offer to you.

- herbs & flowers ~The following list of herbs and flowers are used to infuse olive oil that is then heated, strained and used in our products. There are two different infusion blends I use depending on the product I am making. I call them; "Magic oil no. 1" and "Magic oil no. 2" - creative right?ALL of the herbs and flowers I use are USDA Certified Organic.
- Blue vervain -The herb has been said to be a natural remedy for bruises, insect bites, dry skin, and some have even included eczema relief. - Calendula flowers-Their healing powers and natural abilities to soothe dry and irritated skin have been long recognized by many cultures. It quickly helps soothe and heal minor scrapes, cuts and abrasions. It is also suitable to heal inflammation, acne, rosacea, chapped and dry skin, burns, stings, diaper rashes and more. It stimulates collagen and the site of wounds so is great for scarring and stretch marks. Helping to heal the boo-boos for sure.Now that, is one badass flower! - Chamomile -A soothing and gentle herb, that is great for all ages. Most commonly know for its use as a tea but for my purposes it is used because it is a natural anti-inflammatory which helps relieve muscle tightness, spasms and nerve pain but also aides in soothing skin that may need a little extra love.Products found in - "Honey, Hold My Hand" hand and skin salve; "Honey, It's All Good" healing salve;
- Comfrey leaf - Has the ability to naturally heal muscle and tissue back together. Helping to repair tears and strains while reducing inflammation and soothing pain.Similarly it helps to heal wounds and scrapes. Also known as "knit-bone" it litterlly "knits" and wound or tissue back together again.Products found in - "Honey, Hold My Hand" hand and skin salve; "Honey, It's All Good" healing salve;
- Lavender buds - Naturally antibacterial, anti-fungal, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory, lavender is pretty much the perfect herb for healing wounds, burns, and more! It can conquer just about any skin condition you can think of, from fungus to boo-boos. Fantastic at calming and soothing muscle pains and spasms, and we all know how it helps to calm you down psychologically too, aiding in the reduction of stress which of course is key when trying to "heal".Products found in - "Honey, Hold My Hand" hand and skin salve; "Honey, It's All Good" healing salve;
- Lemon balm -A natural relaxant, lemon balm has fantastic anti-spasmodic properties. It is great at relaxing the body and calming spasms and strains of muscles from exercise, overuse or injury.Products found in - "Honey, Hold My Hand" hand and skin salve; "Honey, It's All Good" healing salve
- Marshmallow Root -This is the coolest herb as it is so fluffy and light to the touch - and that is just what it does to your skin by providing tons of moisture to allow that soft skin to come back. It is great for any skin issues that need soothing. It's natural anti-inflammatory properties, so good at bringing moisture back!Products found in - "Honey, Hold My Hand" hand and skin salve; "Honey, It's All Good" healing salve
- Plantain leaf -I guarantee that if you don't have your lawn treated, then you can probably find this leafy green guy in your yard. My kiddos now can identify it, and chew it up into a poultice and put it directly onto their bug bites or scrapes. It is an amazing wound healer. It has astringent properties that help dry out rashes and soothe the skin. It can help burns, sunburns, bites and stings, cuts and scrapes. Plantain contains a compound called allatonin, an anti-inflammatory phytochemical that speeds wound healing, stimulates the grown of new skin cells, and can give the immune system a boost. carrier oils, butters & others~
- Beeswax -used in the "Honey, BEE Well" products, beeswax gives the products "sticking" power. No, it doesn't feel sticky, but the properties in the beeswax allow for the product to adhere to skin. Help to lock in moisture and also works as a thickening agent for the products. Products found in - EVERY DAMN ONE! Every product we make will be made with beeswax. After all, that working with beeswax is what started this adventure in the first place.
- Shea butter -Our organic unrefined shea butter is so creamy and delicious. It gives the products it is used in that amazing creamy texture with a much less oily consistency. It is a wonderful moisturizer with a very mild scent in comparison to other butters like cocoa. - Olive oil -We use only unrefined and organic EVOO. This staple found in many homes has powers that go way beyond food. We use it as the oil that we infuse with our magical blends of flowers and herbs which are the base of many of our products. It blends beautifully with most essential oils and is non-greasy so it can be used for almost any skin or hair type as it doesn't clog pores or over oil your do! Olive oil i excellent for dandruff, frizz and for our uses dry skin. High in Oleic acid which makes it good for the heart and a potent anti-inflammatory as well. - Vitamin E oil -We use a non-GMO, kosher certified and unrefined vitamin E oil. Healing and nourishing are only half of its amazingness! It is NOT a preservative but it does help in extending the life of handmade skincare products by decreasing oxidation. As long as the container is closed tight and clean fingers (or the wooden spatulas we provide) are used, the VE oil acts like a preservative.Products found in - "Honey, Hold My Hand" hand and skin salve; "Honey, It's All Good" healing salve; "Honey, The Sun's Out!" sunscreen.
- Jojoba oil -This amazing carrier oil is the closest to mimicking collagen and the natural oil secretions of human skin. Using certified organic, unrefined and cold pressed jojoba oil it serves as an excellent antioxidant moisturizer for areas like face and neck and won't be too oily. Naturally anti-fungal and works well when combined with EO's that also have anti-fungal properties and are used for topical fungal infections. It resists oxidation, so holds a longer shelf life and has a beautifully high rate of absorption. Jojoba oil is great for all skin types and anti-inflammatory effects have even been shown.Products found in - "Honey, It's All Good" healing salve;"Honey, The Sun's Out!" sunscreen.
- Tamanu oil -Extracted from the nut of the Ati tree in south east Asia, this raw and unrefined oil it is known for its skin rejuvenating and healing properties suitable for all skin types; especially acne prone or damaged skin because of its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. Research shows it can activate the skin to generate new cells and speeds up regeneration process. Containing powerful antioxidants it is amazing for aging skin, scars and stretch marks. It is an excellent choice for sealing in moisture when used on skin and hair, great for dry climates. Dry patches, woulds and sunburns heal much faster with this green, rich scented oil from a nut!Products found in -"Honey, It's All Good" healing salve; "Honey, Hold My Hand" hand and skin salve.
- Non-Nano Zinc Oxide -Zinc is a powered mineral that sits on top of the skin. It can stand alone as a sunblock because it is truly effective against UVA, UVB and even UVC rays. It has been widely used in diaper creams because of its safety and effectiveness. The zinc oxide I use is uncoated, non-nano, and not micronized. So what does this mean? Basically, it means there are no nano-sized particles entering your body or your bloodstream, which many over the counter sunscreens cannot claim. Listen, I don't know about you, but I am most certainly not interested in having crushed particles enter my body unless they are good for me. Products found in -"Honey, The Sun's Out!" sunscreen.
- Neem oil -From the seeds of the Neem tree, native to India, this very thick, rich and strongly scented oil contains Omegas 3, 6, and 9. Often used for skin and body products as well as in bug repellent. This certified organic oil heals with its antiviral, anti-fungal, antimicrobial and soothing for pain relief. It softens as it is incredibly moisturizing and regenerative, healing and reducing scars. It is even said to stimulate collagen production and the vitamin E content found in neem can act as a method to slow oxidation in the skin. It's ability to act as a bug repellent for biting and stinging insects. Helps to keep mosquito's at bay and can be used as a flea and tick preventative as well. EXCELLENT for Lice!! There's almost nothing this little seed doesn't provide.Rub a little of the "Honey, It's all good" healing salve on exposed ankles and wrists, even face to help keep the bugs a way. - Coconut oil -Using onlycertified organic, virgin and unrefined coconut oil it is most definitely a superstar oil. Full of natural antioxidants and is an excellent anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial oil that nourishes hair, skin and nails. It contains lauric acid which means it can retain a long shelf life. It is full of deeply moisturizing properties. - Cedarwood- Cedarwood Atlas has a rich, woody, slightly sweet and spicy aroma that is reminiscent of the antique cedar chests handed down from generation to generation. This wonderful essential oil is known for its therapeutic properties throughout the oil world. Used to help support a healthy respiratory system as well as a healthy, flake-free scalp, it is also a favorite to use in a blend to keep outdoor annoyances at bay, so you can enjoy your outside nights longer.
- Geranium- This floral smelling essential oil is not only great for skin care and as a strong wound healer, but its also a great tick repellent and has been known to repel all sorts of of flying insects including fleas and lice. is a marvelous skin-balancing oil that can improve the overall skin complexion. It is known for its beneficial effects on women's reproductive health and can be helpful in easing the tension associated with the stress of daily life. It is uplifting and gentle.
- Lemon-Lemon Essential Oil’s active chemical components contribute to its therapeutic benefits that give it the reputation of being an invigorating, cleansing, and purifying oil. These constituents make it ideal for use in cosmetics, aromatherapy, massage, and home cleaning products to purify the air as well as surfaces. These healing benefits can be attributed to the oil’s anti-inflammatory, astringent, analgesic, stimulant, antiseptic, soothing, energizing, and balancing activities, among other valuable properties.
- Lemongrass- Lemongrass is known as being a helpful addition to outdoor sprays. It is refreshing and deodorizing when diffused, as well as being uplifting to the spirit. It can also be added, well-diluted, to a carrier oil to boost circulation, bringing warmth to overused muscles and joints.
- Lavender-Known for its many uses, Lavender essential oil is world renowned as one of the world’s most popular and versatile oils, and for good reason! Lavender has an incredibly sweet, floral, herbal scent and is also highly prized for its many therapeutic properties. The smell of Lavender alone can help produce a calm, peaceful tranquil environment. Diffuse Lavender essential oil into the air before bedtime to promote peaceful sleep, or add Lavender to your favorite lotion or carrier oil to soothe the skin, and help unwind your senses.
- Peppermint-Peppermint oil can be used externally to provide relief from muscle pain. It is believed that the presence of calcium antagonism in peppermint oil helps remove pain from affected areas, reduces swelling, and possibly eliminate the chances of uncomfortable inflammation of the joints. Peppermint oil contains menthol, which is good for the skin because it gives a cooling sensation. Furthermore, it nourishes dull skin and improves the texture of oily or greasy skin.
- Tea tree-It is known to have remarkable effects on irritated skin by helping to ease redness and restore smoothness. Other popular uses include helping to combat skin blemishes and soothing skin that has been overexposed in the sun.
